Welcoming Wednesday
We welcomed a new student to our class today! We now have 10 students in our class! We had an awesome day of learning about our new classroom and our new friend!
During our Inquiry into Language Arts we practiced the letter Nn. We learned how to neatly write the letter Nn using the dotted line, the action with the letter Nn and then we wrote in our phonics journal. We reviewed all of our letter sounds. Ss, Aa, Tt, Pp, Ii, and now Nn. Looking forward to tomorrow and learning the song for Nn.
During Math today we did centers. We practiced our numbers with playdough 1-10, we used 10 frames, and we used the click-cubes. We talked about all of the different tools that we use for math. The centers went very well and all of our friends were working hard. :)
During UOI today we reviewed the song and the actions for parts of a flower. Then we made a book of the different jobs that each of the parts of a flower have to do to keep the plant alive. Today Ms. Gray apparently did a MUCH better job on her drawing of a flower... "That is a beautiful flower, Ms. Gray"... I think our friends had some encouragement from home about giving compliments. ;)
We LOVED the bake sale today! Some of us had to save their purchase until snack -- which Ms. Gray couldn't believe they made that decision because she was tempted to eat their cupcake as it sat on her desk for two hours! However, it was AWESOME to be able to buy some SUGAR. It did not effect us ONE bit. (Just kidding, it totally did.)
REMINDERS
1. Practice using the less and more! I was so excited to hear that some of our parents were doing an awesome job of practicing this with their kiddos when giving them money for the bake sale!! :) Woohoo!
2. Thursday (TOMORROW) -- Terry Fox day -- Gym Uniform Day
3. Friday -- Orange Shirt Day! -- If they are wearing an Orange Shirt the students are allowed to dress down.
4. Friday -- SPELLING TEST! Bonus words on back -- I will choose a few words (we wont be doing all of the words on the back)
