Being Silly in S.K. this Morning!

During our Inquiry into Language Arts we learned a new song!! The sound of the day was Tt. The movement for Tt was moving your head from side to side like you're watching a tennis match! After the students sang the song a few times, we practiced the upper case letter T and the lower case letter t. We used our awesome new Phonic Journal for this. We also all made Ms. Gray SUPER proud because when we saw Mr. Richard in the hallway, we thanked him for our cool new books!

During our Math lesson, we learned all about TEN FRAMES! We were absolute ROCK STARS!!! Ms. Gray made these laminated ten frames on colourful paper and we used the new counters for our activity. The students picked a number out of a bin and then all of the students represented the number on their Ten Frame. We enjoyed this A LOT! After our game was done, we worked in our workbook reviewing the Five Frame and practicing the Ten Frame.

**Still encourage your student to use the vocabulary "More" and "Less"... An easy way to practice ten frames and more or less would be to draw it, give them a number and then they have to draw the counters. After that part is done, have them write "___ is ___ more/less than 10." The first number, count the counters, the second number is the empty boxes OR the extra counters. Some of the students love to do this.**

Unit of Inquiry we talked about all different kinds of animals that live on the farm. After they named the animal, Ms. Gray would have a figurine of each of the animals. We would talk about the animal's job on the farm.
After this, we focused on the cow. We watched a video about what cows produce and how to take care of cows on the farm.

The students learned that some of their favorite things that they eat have milk in them, which comes from a cow!

*ICE CREAM
*CHOCOLATE
*MILK
*BUTTER (The students do not know yet, but we are going to make butter on Friday!!! )

For our Journals today we talked about being inquirers and we heard a story about Curious George. George was an inquirer because ....

Reminders

1. Words of the Week: The words that went home in the agenda today are for the yellow workbook. Students should be practicing writing the word and writing sentences with the word.
** Parents are allowed to write the sentence for the students and have the students copy the sentence below. We are still learning how to write sentences in class, so all the positive feedback that you can give to your little ones is encouraged!!**

2. BBQ on Thursday! Hoping to see you there! :)

3. Raz-Kids letter went home today! The USERNAME & PASSWORD is stapled in the agenda on the first page. Currently, all students are assigned the same level with an option to level up, I will be assigning e-books based on level. If students are able to read the story alone, without struggle, that is wonderful. We are just building the love of reading right now and practicing logging in to Raz-Kids. We will start to challenge the students throughout the week and by Friday we will level the Raz-Kids appropriately.
