Thursday the 13th!

September 13th -- another great day here at St. Judes!
**My phone was not charged and I was not able to take pictures until I got a charger**

With the weather changing and all of the germs floating around we were all feeling the Thursday Blues a little today... I keep reminding the students how important it is to wash our hands WITH SOAP before eating and making sure to stop them from putting their hands in their mouth. If we could try to reinforce at home how he or she should be sure to wash their hands after recess WITH SOAP before going to lunch... I try my best to check if they use soap, but I cannot go into the bathrooms with them.

During our inquiry into Language Arts we used highlighters and practiced the letter Aa. We sang that AWESOME song about ANTS and then brainstormed A words. Some of our friends used the SPELLING words to add to our list. Then we practiced writing the uppercase and lowercase Aa. We practiced sounding out words.

During Math we played a game where Ms. Gray wrote on the board and we each had our own white board to write the answer. We practiced more and less! We talked about centers for tomorrow and Ms. Gray was told centers are not for learning, they are for fun... I explained Learning is Fun! We have to use our time wisely. :) They seem to really love learning math. In their journals, this was some of our friends favourite part of the day!

In UOI we listened to the story "Pancakes, Pancakes" by Eric Carle and learned how we make pancakes! We acted out step by step each part of the recipe. Some of us offered alternative ingredients, such as oil instead of butter. We made a booklet of the directions for tomorrow! We found out that we are making PANCAKES TOMORROW!! We are super excited!
