Preparation Wednesday!!
During our inquiry into Language Arts we had our Assistant (NEW JOB-- We now have 10 students in the class so we needed to add another job for classroom jobs!) lead the review of all of our letters and their sounds and actions that we have learned so far this year. We then started a new letter, Dd and learned a new song! We brainstormed SO MANY words that started with Dd that Ms. Gray had to stop writing them and started on our journal. Dd seems to be an easy one for our friends! We then worked on writing our letters neatly in our phonics journals and drew pictures of things that start with the letter Dd. Ms. Gray is more and more impressed every day with how well the students work in the morning!During our Math time today we practiced our Ordinal Numbers... So, we had students stand up in a line, then Ms. Gray would say the second person sit down, the fourth person sit down, etc. Some of our friends could say what place you come in if you are #1, #2, #3, or #4, but beyond that we are working on being able to recognize that word that goes with the number one! (ie. first, second, third, fourth)... After we did our interactive activity, then we went to our seats and started working on a worksheet that was asking us to do the same thing. (Draw glasses on the FOURTH person, or draw a bow in the first person's hair, etc.) We had lots of fun, and saw some pretty interesting silly hats, glasses, and bows being drawn.... I definitely wouldn't want to wear some of those hats! :)
During UOI we worked on our Summative Assignnment writing piece. We wrote about what the plant looked like, felt like, and then we wrote where the plant that we eat grows. Ms. Gray was busy trying to keep everyone organized and running around from student to student so, she doesn't have too many pictures from today! But she is going to take LOTS of pictures for International Day!
During French we talked about being Thankful! We saw Mlle. Jessica's amazing artistic ability and we made sure to give her some compliments. Some of our friends were a tiny bit critical of her artwork... We then talked about why it is important to keep some of those thoughts to yourself. We don't want to hurt anyone's feelings and what if Ms. Gray pointed out that "your people don't have arms..." ;) The students agreed that they would not feel too great, then we moved on to learn more ways to say things we are thankful for. (Some examples are: my family, my school, my toys, and my house.)
After French, the clock started ticking to get everything ready for International Day! We worked on finishing up our board, teaching some of our friends new things about Mexico! We learned that they have BULL-FIGHTING in Mexico AND that they play a lot of the same sports as we do in Canada. We learned that the first University in North America was in Mexico! Lots of FUN FACTS! :)
We are almost ALL ready for our International Day tomorrow! Tomorrow is going to be a very busy (but extremely fun) day! :)
